Dear Cheverus families,
All the stress associated with this time of year melted away as we filled the church preparing for our annual 1st through – 8th grade Christmas pageant. The students sang beautifully, reenacting the story of the birth of Christ. The same can be said for the innocence of our early childhood students singing so angelically in the gymnasium, practicing their own show this week. These beautiful moments allow us to remember the real meaning of this joyous time of year. While it is nice to give and receive gifts, it is truly important we spend time together and celebrate this holy time.
It is a blessing to witness the same students who were just on stage as preschool students a few short years ago, nervously looking for their parent in the crowd, now, as 8th grade students. Today they represent figures from the story of Christ’s birth. They have taken on the roles of Mary, Joseph, the Angel Gabriel, and the 3 wise men. They also take on the role of speakers who narrate the story between songs. Seeing the students grow and mature is what being a part of Cheverus is all about. They start here, possibly crying as they separate from you for the first time as young preschool students, and leave crying because they will miss a place where they met lifelong friends and shared wonderful memories. This growth is abundantly evident to me this time of year, and I am grateful to be able to experience it.
Thank you all for choosing Cheverus Catholic School, have a wonderful Christmas and a restful break.
