Dear Cheverus families,
We recently held our 9th annual Gala at Spinelli’s in Peabody where we honored the leadership of Malden through Mayors Gary Christenson, Edwin Lucey, and Richard Howard. I was honored to be selected by faculty and staff to be the Dianne Dingolo Award recipient, named after the beloved former principal. This year was an extra special year for the event with our amazing student speakers stealing the spotlight with their heartfelt and beautiful speeches. Nesta, Johnny, and Imran spoke from their hearts, detailing their unique experiences as Cheverus students in 2025. As I stood by the podium with them, their impact was obvious as the emotional crowd hung on their every word. These 3 students represented their families well and their 8th grade classmates. This class of 26 scholars exemplifies the modern day Cheverus student through hard work, kindness, and personality. We could not be prouder of these kids, and we will miss them once they graduate.
We were able to raise $25,000 this year, and that is thanks, in no small part, to you, our families. We truly appreciate your participation in our no uniform days, program book ads, and other fundraisers that helped reach this amount. These donations, small and large, all accumulate and allow us to improve the student experience at Cheverus. As I mentioned at the gala, it’s not just about academics anymore. Our students need places to play and be kids. While we continue to improve our academics through new curriculum, student services, and a new STREAM lab, it is equally important to focus on the socio-emotional well-being of our students. Outdoor play space has been our focus for the last 2 years, and nothing brings me more joy than seeing our students enjoying these areas.
Thank you to all who contributed to this event in any way and thanks to you all for entrusting us with the care and education of your children. We know there are free options out there, and we appreciate all Cheverus parents for making daily sacrifices to send your children here. We are all committed to this school, and the motivation behind our dedication is you and your children. Being a part of this community is an honor and a blessing, and there is no better place to spend our days than here at Cheverus, fulfilling our mission to serve the needs of our amazing students.
Sincerely,
Jeff Lane
