WASHINGTON D.C. APRIL 27-APRIL 30Hello 8th grade parents!
1. Our popcorn fundraiser was a huge success. We collectively raised over $14,000 half of which is for us to use for our trip. I have already logged into my spreadsheet the amount your child's storefront made and have applied 50% of the amount raised to your cost of the trip. We are continuing to fundraise. The final payment will be due on March 1. I will send your balance after all fundraising is applied sometime in late January, early February.
2. Report cards will be emailed to you on Wednesday, December 3rd. Parent conferences are on Thursday December 4th from 5:30-6:30. These conferences are quick and will be less than 5 minutes. If you require more time, please make an appointment.
3. Christmas pageant is on December 18th at 6:30. The 8th graders will be the readers and have special parts. All 8th graders are required to attend.
4. You should be well underway now with high school applications. Most deadlines are December 19 or around that time. Prep schools are sometime in January. Please keep an eye on those deadlines.
5. Transcripts are sent by Mrs. Jackson. I have nothing to do with those so please email Mrs. Jackson with any transcript questions. TRANSCRIPTS ARE NOT SENT UNTIL DECEMBER WHEN FIRST TERM GRADES CLOSE.
6. Recommendation requests from teachers for high school applications need to be requested no later than December 19. We will not be checking our emails over Christmas break so please have everything done before then.
7. We have a middle school field trip scheduled for this Friday, November 21 to Bishop Fenwick High School to see their high school adaptation of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. I am excited to see Cheverus graduates performing at this play! We depart at 8:30 and will be back for lunch at noon.
8. We have our middle school retreat scheduled for Tuesday, November 25 here at school. We have a guest speaker coming in the morning to talk about health and safety. We have an activity each grade is doing with the little ones of our school. We have breakout rooms planned with a variety of activities planned in each room. We have a talent show in the afternoon. It is going to be great!
I would appreciate any donations of breakfast items for us to enjoy in the morning. (Doughnuts, munchkins, muffins, orange juice, etc.) Please email me if you can donate any of those items for Tuesday morning of our retreat. Thank you in advance!
9. Lastly, students need to complete 10 hours of in house volunteer work by May 1. Many have already exceeded that number! I love seeing our kids interact and volunteer with the lower grades. It is so awesome!
