Week of Sept. 15th - Our Lady of Sorrows The Memorial of Our Lady of Sorrows commemorates the seven sorrows in the Heart of Mary as recorded in Scripture:
- The prophecy of Simeon (Luke 2:33–35)
- The flight into Egypt (Matthew 2:13–15)
- Loss of the Child Jesus for three days (Luke 2:41–50)
- Mary meets Jesus on His way to Calvary (Luke 23:27–31; John 19:17)
- Crucifixion and Death of Jesus (John 19:25–30)
- The body of Jesus being taken from the Cross (Luke 23:50–54; John 19:31–37)
- The burial of Jesus (Isaiah 53:8–9; Luke 23:50–56; John 19:38–42; Mark 15:40–47)
Essay Contest - Hope in Scripture! On Tuesday, Sept. 16th at 2:15pm -2:45pm, Mr. Lane and I will be hosting an information session on the Hope in Scripture Essay Contest given by the Boston Catholic Schools Office. All students in Grades 6-8 are invited to participate. I hope your child will participate in this wonderful opportunity to write about a pilgrim of hope in their life! And maybe win a prize and receive extra credit! I look forward to seeing your child on Tuesday afternoon!Essays are due to Mr. Lane by September 30th!
Band - Band lessons will be offered on Thursdays, and a registration sheet and information will be coming this week about the lessons. If your child is interested in band lessons, please fill out and return the sheet by Sept. 23rd.
MAP Testing - MAP testing for the fall sessions will be held on Friday, Sept. 26th. These tests are given each fall and spring to check student growth in the areas of Language Arts, Reading, and Math.

Grade 5 - Chapter 1 Test on Thursday, Sept. 25th
Grade 6 - Chapter 1 Test 1 on Thursday, Sept. 18th
Chapter 1 Test II on Thursday, Sept. 25th
Grade 7 - Chapter 1 Test on Thursday, Sept. 25th
Grade 8 - Chapter 1 Test on Tuesday, Sept. 23rd
More important information:Arrival - Grade 7 begins school at 7:50am, and students are tardy at 8:00am. Please be sure to bring your child to school on time.
Dismissal - Grade 7 dismissal time is 2:05pm. If your child is allowed to walk home, walk to the library, walk to your car, etc. after school, please email me your instructions for your child's dismissal at 2:05 so I can dismiss your student and not wait for you to come pick them up at the front doors. Grade 7 dismisses from the front doors on the right side of the building.
Uniforms - Students are to be dressed in full school uniform each day at Cheverus Catholic School. Gym days are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Be sure to check the website for proper uniform dress.
